It gets harder for me to work up the motivation to write these blog posts as each month passes with each child. I like being able to look back and remember each stage and when things happened though. And I did this for the other two kids, so I should try for Asher too.
Sometimes I feel bad because we definitely don’t hold, play with, read to, or even dress Asher in clothes other than pajamas as much as we did with the other two. But then I think about how Asher might be the most loved little baby in the world. Not only is he loved by adult friends and family members, but also by his little siblings and cousins. And they know how to love intensely! Hopefully what Asher is lacking because of our time being stretched a little thinner is being made up for in love. And he can analyze this blog post with his therapist later in life.
Asher has the sweetest smiles and laughs and he’s so, so sweet and happy….unless he’s not. He lets us know, very loudly, how he’s feeling, whether it’s good or bad. I feel like he’s happy the majority of the time though. Derek likes to say he’s starting to live up to his name, which means “happy and blessed.”
Little man had kind of a rough month with being sick, but I’m hoping we’ve made it through since spring is maybe sorta starting to actually happen now. Asher had a cold, along with Mercy and Elias, for most of winter. This past month he started wheezing really badly because of the congestion, so the doctor’s office let us borrow a nebulizer to bring home and use for him a few times a day. I don’t know if that really helped or if the congestion just worked its way out anyway, but it wasn’t too long before his breathing returned to normal and he started to act more like himself again.
Updates:
Eating: GUYS. This boy doesn’t like to take a bottle anymore. I don’t know what it is with the Leek children, but they are not bottle-loving babies. Asher would rather just not eat for 8 hours during the day than drink a bottle. And he’s obviously not hurting because of it (but I am when he tries to make up for it at night!).
Sleeping: I think we got a little off track with sleeping well when Asher was sick and we’re still recovering. He typically still only gets up once or twice, but we’ve had some nights when he’s up every 2-3 hours and caffeinated zombie Erica comes out the next day.
Other developments: Asher has rolled from belly to back probably 10-15 times but still doesn’t do it very often. He’s starting to look like he’s trying to roll the other way too, but hasn’t made it yet. He also loves to babble! I like hearing his sweet, little voice.
