Mercy Jeanie, as Eli likes to call her, is 11 months old. My baby is almost one. Somebody hold me!
I think I’ve said this every month, but MJ’s such a sweet baby. She does this open-mouthed laugh that I could just listen to on repeat for the rest of my life. I think we’re all so happy to have Mercy in our lives.
This month’s updates:
Eating: Girl still loves to eat! She will eat pretty much anything we give her, which is so nice. With a somewhat picky toddler, it’s so nice to have someone to basically loves every single food I make. She’s not a huge fan of broccoli, but I think she’s only had it once so far and she might warm up to it. She also didn’t like some taco chicken we had this past week, but it was a little spicy by itself, the way she was eating it. Other than that, I can’t really think of anything she hasn’t liked.
Mercy nurses 4 times a day now, in the morning and before each nap and bedtime. She probably averages 5-10 minutes each time she nurses, so we’re really not spending much time with that now.
She still loves water (wa-wa) and does a great job drinking from a cup with a straw or a sippy cup.
Sleeping: We’ve added the morning nap back in! I was starting to think we were just going to drop that nap, but I think that Mercy just needed to get back in a little bit more of schedule. We had traveled some and just had some schedule interruptions last month that threw us off a bit, but now we’re about back to normal. Mercy normally sleeps between 10 and 11 hours at night and then takes two naps a day that last 1-2 hours each.
Mercy is starting to be more consistent about sleeping all night until between 6:00 and 7:00 (it’s super exciting when it’s 7:00!). If she does wake up before that, she loudly lets us (/the whole neighborhood) know that she’s awake, but we’ve started to just ignore it. I usually turn off the monitor and close the door (and put Derek’s pillow over my head :)) and eventually she stops and goes back to sleep. I’m not heartless, I promise.
Other developments: The crawling has gotten faster, but it’s still kind of an army crawl. She will get up on her hands and knees and rock back and forth, but usually goes back down to her belly when she wants to move. She will use us to pull up on, but hasn’t really started to pull up on the furniture yet.
She loves giving kisses, and it’s one of my favorite things she does. She’ll put her mouth on something and go “mmmmm-mah.” She mostly kisses her toys and food (the good stuff), but we get kisses sometimes too.
Weight: 18.8 lbs
Clothes: 12 months, size 3 diapers during the day/4 at night
Dislikes: not getting what she wants (especially food), getting her diaper changed right when she wakes up in the morning
Likes: giving kisses, waving, pointing and talking about things, her animal mobile, dogs, putting things in the toy bins
