Our sweet Mercy is 3 months old. This little girl can be so irresistibly charming when she smiles and coos or completely heart-breaking when she pouts out her bottom lip and cries. We’ve been able to see a little more of her personality come out in the past month.
We just took our first overnight trip as a family of four this past weekend to visit family in the mountains, and we had the best time! Mercy did well sleeping in a new place, and we had a great visit.
This month’s updates:
Eating: Mercy continues to eat well. She usually nurses 4-5 times a day and gets one bottle. She doesn’t eat as much as Eli used to, but I think she’s just not going to be as chubby as he was :).
It takes Mercy a while to get started with the bottle, but she usually does well once she starts. She will drink anywhere from 3 to 6 ounces–usually whatever is in the bottle.
Sleeping: I think I can say we’re officially down to only getting up once a night. Every now and then we’ll have a day or two when Mercy gets up twice, but it’s becoming very uncommon.
We’re still working on the naps during the day. I’ve had trouble getting her to sleep for more than about 40 minutes at a time. Derek suggested swaddling her, which we haven’t done since the first week or so of her life. I resisted doing it for a while (don’t ask me why–I should have listened to my husband), but we just started swaddling her again in the last week or so and it seems to really help. Yesterday she took a 3-hour nap!
Other developments: Mercy is rolling from back to belly a lot (and then getting angry about it). I’ve seen her roll from belly to back a couple of times, but she seems to have more trouble that way. We’ve also gotten a few giggles–so cute!
Weight: 12.6 lbs, according to our bathroom scale
Likes: watching Eli, walking around in the ergo, baths, silly noises/faces, sucking on her hands
Dislikes: getting in the carseat, clothes going over her head, dinnertime (she usually cries at this time of day)
Clothes: 3 month, 3-6 month, size 1 diapers
