I’m a little bit in denial that my baby isn’t really a baby anymore! Our big man is ONE!
We have loved the past year with Elias. There have been challenges, of course, but he brings us so much joy! (And noise–as I’m writing this, he’s chewing on a megablock and yelling). I’m kind of excited to be done with the monthly updates, but I’ll try to still write every now and then about what our little guy is up to.
Eli has started saying and repeating a lot of words. He still mostly tells us what he wants by grunting and pointing, but he’ll repeat words that we say and sometimes say them unprompted…except “love you!” We keep trying to get him to say that and he’ll just look at us and smile or laugh.
Updates:
Eating: Not much new here, except that he has started even more “normal” food or food that we’re eating. I’m happy about that because I’m tired of making special food just for him! We now have the official okay to start him on cow’s milk, which we will probably start slowly over the next few weeks.
Sleeping: Eli’s really a good sleeper and I can’t complain. He still normally takes two naps a day and then goes to sleep around 8 and gets up around 7. Every now and then he’ll sleep until 8 in the morning, and it’s like a special treat.
Other developments: Still no consistent walking, but Elias has taken multiple steps a few times. He’ll do it and then stop once he realizes it. I’m thinking he’ll probably be walking for real within the next month. He also loves closing doors and turning off lights.
This month’s stats:
Weight: 21 lbs, 3 oz. (26%)
Height: 29 3/4″ (50%)
Head circumference: 17 3/4″ (17%–where are all these babies with huge heads who make up the remaining 83%?)
Clothes: mostly 12 month with some 9 month and 18 month thrown in there, size 3 diapers
Dislikes: the sun in his eyes, getting his nose wiped, having to share (we’re working on it), being unable to open doors
Likes: food pouches, closing doors, turning off lights, being LOUD! (especially with daddy), drinking out of a straw, balloons, waving and talking to people in stores, his riding dinosaur toy, snuggling and hugging mama, smiling for the camera, emptying out the kitchen cabinets, playing instruments
And pictures!
