I am a whole 9 days late on this update! Eli is a man on the move! He loves crawling, exploring, and getting in to everything!
This month’s updates:
Eating: So at about 9 1/2 months, Eli decided he didn’t want to nurse anymore…like one day he was still nursing 4 times and the next day, nothing. He was also sick at the time, so I kept offering but thought maybe he’d start again once he felt better. I tried for another week or so once he was better, but he still didn’t want to nurse. So I had to come to terms with the fact that my baby was done nursing. And I was sad.
It’s kind of funny because it’s been no secret that I don’t love breastfeeding. I remember, months ago, feeling like this time would never come. I didn’t anticipate actually being sad about not nursing anymore. I think the abruptness of it made it harder for me, though. I was thinking we’d slowly wean and cut back on nursing instead of just stopping completely kind of randomly. I feel better about it now, though. It really is kind of nice not having to nurse 🙂 and we’ve got plenty of frozen milk that should last Eli through the next couple of months.
Eli now eats breakfast, lunch, usually an afternoon snack, and dinner. He’s started to become more interested in the food we’re eating and will usually take bites of my food along with eating his own. He’ll usually drink some milk with his food and sometimes will have a little bit before bed too.
Sleeping: Not much new here. Eli wasn’t sleeping super well when he was sick, but he seems to be back to normal now. He does get up earlier than I’d like sometimes still, but I’m hoping that will change back too. If not, we may try shortening his afternoon nap a bit to see if that makes a difference.
Other developments: He has 5 teeth now and it looks like a few more are ready to poke through! He likes music and will often dance or clap along. He’s also started laying his head down on the floor for a few seconds when he gets sleepy, which is super, super cute!
Likes: waving, pulling things out of the kitchen cabinets, playing with his rubber ducks, cups, playing with the DVDs, cheerios, playing with our shoes, his vacuum toy
Dislikes: wiping his nose/face, eating vegetables (this started while he was sick and is starting to go away), waiting for food, the bouncer, being told “no,” sometimes being left with other people (a little separation anxiety, maybe)
Aaaaaand cute photos
