Welp, a whole other month has passed (plus almost a week!), so I guess it’s time for an Eli update.
We’ve been having so much fun with Eli! There are definitely a couple of things I miss about the newborn stages, but overall, these older baby months are the best!
Elias has been on the go! He has given up the funny push-up crawl and is crawling everywhere, very quickly! He also loves to stand up and will pull up on just about anything, whether it’s stable or not. This month started with lots of crying as Eli would pull up on things and fall, forget that he was standing and fall, or try to get back down and fall, but he’s doing much better now. He’s gotten a better sense of balance and can stand really well even while just barely holding on. It’s been fun (and challenging) for him to be able to explore his surroundings.
This month’s updates:
Eating: Not much new here. Eli still eats mostly purees or really soft food along with nursing usually 4 times a day. He has gotten a lot better at putting puffs and cheerios into his mouth. He’s also not been liking carrots this month, for some reason.
Sleeping: We’ve changed up the sleep schedule in the past few weeks, and it’s been sooooooooo nice. I’ve been hesitant to put Elias to bed later since he seemed to still get up early the next morning anyway, but we’ve moved his bedtime to 8:00. After just a few nights of a later bedtime, Eli was sleeping later in the morning. He now normally goes to sleep between 8 and 8:30 and sleeps until between 7:30 and 8:30. I feel like a new person! It’s nice, too, because Derek gets to spend some more time with Eli on weekdays before bedtime.
Naptimes are still pretty much the same. He normally naps really well at home, but doesn’t do well when the schedule is changed a lot or we’re not home. I’ve started not really letting him nap in the car now because he’ll sleep for like 15 minutes in the car and think that’s his whole nap. If you see me driving and I’m yelling, “Elias! No sleeping!” every 30 seconds, that’s why.
Other developments: I’ve already mentioned the normal crawling and standing. Elias has also been “cruising” along the edge of furniture. He likes climbing and tries to get up on the couch, but hasn’t figured it out yet. Oh! And he climbs the stairs.
Eli claps his hands when you say, “Yay!” and will sometimes wave “Hi” or “Bye”…it’s pretty much the most adorable thing ever. Aaaaaand he cleans now! He really likes putting toys on top of or into other things, and that includes putting his toys away! We’re still working on putting away the DVDs that he takes out :).
Weight: 19 lbs, 13 oz. (36%–little man’s slimming down!)
Height: 28 in (39%)
Head circumference: 17.5 in (24%)
Likes: playing in the tub, climbing (especially on mama), pulling things out of the diaper cabinet, animal noises, rolling/throwing balls, chasing daddy and being chased, his banana toothbrush
Dislikes: getting his hair washed/rinsed in the tub, grass, being told “no,” carrots, not having a toy in the car…after throwing his toy on the floor in the car, sitting still
Eli doesn’t cooperate with the monthly tie sticker anymore, but he’s still cute!

As long as you don’t mind the very yucky diaper he would have when he gets there 🙂
